  Daniel Alps is an energetic, charismatic chef with a passion for local and organic produce. Tasmanian born, Daniel served his apprenticeship in Launceston before travelling to Broome, where he worked for two years alongside Asian, French, New Zealand and Australian chefs. Here he gained valuable insights into various global cuisines and cooking styles involving cultural fusion. Daniel returned to Tasmania as executive chef at the Pipers Brook Vineyard where he developed a passionate interest in food and wine matching. He is keen to develop a strong relationship with local farmers to support his vision of Tasmanian food culture. Daniel uses only fresh, organic and local produce and keeps his dishes as simple as possible so the pure flavours of the produce shine through. He also runs Alps & Amici food store and kitchen in East Launceston, a result of Daniel's close relationships with the food suppliers in the area and his desire to provide a local alternative food source other than the big supermarkets.

  Established in Launceston in 1998, Me Wah is regarded as Tasmania's best Asian restaurant. Hong Kong master Cantonese chef, Gordon Tso wowed the local clientelle with his finely tuned delicious take on traditional Cantonese cuisine. Me Wah has been voted Best Asian Restaurant in Tasmania every year from 1999 to 2008. In 2007 Me Wah opened in Hobart. In 2007 and 2008 Me Wah also received Best Overall Restaurant in Tasmania and in 2008 Me Wah was awarded the Best Asian Restaurant in Australia. The awards are a result of Me Wah's approach to Cantonese cuisine by using the freshest, highest quality ingredients available combined with an enviable wine list and highly trained and knowledgeable food and wine staff.

  After successful careers in French hospitality including many years at the Ritz in Paris, Ginette and Remi Bancal moved to Australian in 1987 where Remi was involved in the success of Mietta's of Melbourne and Banc in Sydney. In 1999, the rural life beckoned and the Bancal's established Calstock Country Guesthouse in Deloraine, Tasmania which received the Best B&B award from Australia's Gourmet Traveller magazine. Riding on the sweet wave of success they soon renovated the Glencoe Rural Retreat to reflect a classic French country style guest house with a tea room serving light lunches and afternoon teas. The latest project has brought a slice of provincial France to Hobart, a restaurant appropriately named, Remi de Provence. Entering through an impressive wine room, the restaurant features an entire mural of gastronomic adventure created by resident Tasmanian artist, Tom Samek. Remi de Provence presents traditional French cuisine by one of Australia's favourite adopted French chefs.

  The Source restaurant is at the forefront of the Moorilla experience engaging diners with an international gaze informed by the local environment. The restaurant is named after an important acquisition of Australian art, John Olsen's The Source, a six metre paintiing set directly in the ceiling above the staircase at the entry to the restaurant. The Source's kitchen philosophy is to maximise seasonality, sustainability of natural resources, be attentive of food miles and to use where possible, local product from local producers. Executive chef, Philippe Leban was born in Paris, grew up in Sydney and worked at Hamilton House on the Bund in Shanghai, where he delivered a series of awards including Conde Naste Traveler magazine's '100 Hot List Tables' of worldwide restaurants in 2008 and Best New Restaurant in Shanghai in 2009. Prior to his international award winning spree, Philippe worked with Guillaume Brahimi as his sous chef at Sydney's Quay and then as head chef at Guillaume at Bennelong. In France he worked at a number of three Michelin star restaurants including Alain Passard's L'Arpege, Pascal Barbot's L'Astrance, the Hotel Plaza Athenee restaurant and the eponymous, Helene Darroze.

  MONA, The Museum of Old and new Art, is scheduled to open in January 2011. The Source, Moorilla Wines Cellar Door and the Pavilions are open to the public.
